Andy Brierly

Finance & Strategy

Andy is a finance executive with 25 years experience helping companies make a success of business transformation, integration and separation.

Andy formerly led global transformation for AIG, where he saved over $100m operating costs through organisational and operational reviews across Europe and APAC, and reduced capital requirements by $1bn through a merger and integration of European entities.  He also directed the Group’s market leading Brexit resilience strategy, including the establishment of a new European business and transfer of 50 million policyholders. Prior to AIG, Andy spent over a decade at EY in corporate finance, where he built and led deal advisory practices in Japan and across the Middle East & North Africa, helping companies with acquisitions, divestments and capital raising.

Andy brings a wealth of knowledge from leading some of the largest and most complex transactions and solving some of the most intractable issues. With Brexit, Andy had to navigate uncharted territory in the field of cross-border financial regulation while getting the rest of the insurance industry on board.

Andy has perspectives of both the advisory and the industry side and understands how change impacts operations, business dynamics, customer relationships and the individuals within an organisation. He has a deep understanding of the life cycle of a transaction, from putting a deal together and executing to operational cut-over and business integration, as well as longer term value realisation through process re- engineering, organisational design and systems enhancement.

Andy has deep experience in the insurance and telecoms sector, but has worked with businesses across a broad range of sectors, from education to manufacturing. Andy has advised over 100 companies and private equity firms on some of the largest M&A deals including Zurich, Vodafone, Wal-Mart, IBM and Time Warner.

“Andy has been absolutely critical to the work we’ve done in ‘standing-up’ the APAC region.  We have clarity, purpose and vision thanks to his hard work and true heavy-lifting.” – Regional President, Multinational Group
