Phil is a qualified accountant who has 35 years experience in Financial Services in Finance and COO roles.

Phil qualified with PwC working in their audit and consultancy practices, specialising in Financial Services. He then worked for Barclays in a number of roles including Finance Director of Barclays Life, Finance Director of Retail Financial Services, COO of Investment Management before joining Old Mutual and working in their UK business latterly as Operations Director, leading a team of around 1,000 people.

Phil is adept at transforming the organisations he leads. He assesses what the division needs to achieve to support the business in achieving its strategic objectives. He thinks through what needs to be done and then implements the necessary change. This has involved building leadership capability, restructuring, transforming culture, introducing sophisticated customer metrics, introducing relevant MI, re-engineering processes, deploying lean techniques in Finance and Financial services environments, introducing new systems and outsourcing.

Phil has lead his teams successfully through significant regulatory change, for example the Retail Distribution Review (RDR) and changes to  Client Money regulations.
